The Local Flying Area

Here's a few pictures of the local Northern California flying area. If the weather is decent, there's just no place better for the views.

Pa060062.jpg (83037 bytes) West-bound departure from Hollister Muni (3O7), located about 30 miles southeast of San Jose, CA
Pa060114.jpg (316377 bytes) South-bound along the Santa Cruz Mountains about 20 north of Santa Cruz.
Pa060067.jpg (87869 bytes) North-bound along the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains with San Jose beyond the ridge line.
PA060116b.jpg (243453 bytes) Rear view of the San Mateo coast, looking northwest.
Pa060121b.jpg (82569 bytes) The Monterey Bay on a nice calm morning. Heading southeast somewhere just north of Watsonville (WVI) airport, Santa Cruz is just out of the picture to the right and WVI is just out of picture to the left. The Monterey Peninsula is in the distance at center.
Pb200136b.jpg (306720 bytes) My old "home-drome" of Half Moon Bay (HAF). Obviously taken on one of those nice fog-free fall days. Immediately to the left of the point of the left side of the photo is the famous surfers area known as "Maverick's". During winter storms this area is known for 40 foot waves. Suffice to say, corrosion can be a problem here.
Pb200143b.jpg (179163 bytes) More of the San Mateo coast just north of Pigeon Point
Pb200141b.jpg (259080 bytes) View looking south along the coast. The road is the famous Pacific Coast Highway.
PB200167b.jpg (308949 bytes) Somewhere just west of Santa Cruz.
PB200168b.jpg (417814 bytes) Another shot of the coastline west of Santa Cruz.
PB200173b.jpg (402614 bytes) This is the island just off shore from Ana Nuevo State Reserve. The building used to house a lighthouse keeper but has been abandoned to the wildlife. Try to count the seals in the photo...
PB200180b.jpg (297358 bytes) Looking north along the coast just north of Pigeon Point. In the distance can been seen Half Moon Bay.
